Shift1 - Day Shift
Manages and oversees the payroll functions for Tucson Medical Center Healthcare. Manages, coordinates, and supervises all payroll and compensation to include executive and management incentives, pay policies and benefits. Oversees the preparation of timely and accurate internal and external financial reports and coordinates the annual external audit.
Manages staff; interviews, hires and trains; evaluates employee performance; deals with performance problems as appropriate; delegates work assignments effectively.
Manages department budget.
Oversee and manages related payroll records, filing tax reports, voluntary deduction reports, levies and garnishments, documenting and updating procedures and preparing special reports.
Maintains and reconciles payroll deduction systems for health insurance, pension and other benefits; ensures benefit accruals are compiled correctly.
Conducts and assists in the presentation of financial educational sessions.
Manages and oversees the maintenance of individual payroll records, distributes payrolls and prepares W-2 forms and FICA reports.
Assists with Treasury Operations in forecasting cash requirements.
Applies knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and serves as an organizational expert in this area.
Manages employee expense reimbursements and travel advances.
Understands and educates on such issues as Independent Contractor Relationships, 1099 Reporting, and Tax Exemption Status.
Ensures accuracy and filing of assigned federal, state, and other regulatory reports, including 1099 issuance.
Reviews and monitors any existing or new accounting system to provide complete and accurate financial and statistical reports.
Interacts with outside auditors and participates in occasional auditing projects or provide information and access to general ledger and other accounting records as required.
Conducts and assists in presentation of financial educational sessions as assigned.
Manages to productivity management report targets.
Implements and enforces necessary processes and practices to maintain regulatory compliance.
Adheres to TMCH organizational and department-specific safety, confidentiality, values, policies and standards.
Performs related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Payroll or Economics.
EXPERIENCE: Five (5) years of progressively responsible professional payroll experience, including three (3) years of supervisory or management experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of payroll processing cycles and best practices.
Knowledge of accounting principles and regulations.
Skill in evaluating staff and workflow and making recommendations for improvement.
Skill in organizing workflow and staff.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Ability to prepare detailed written and oral reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to inquiries or complaints from employees, patients and/or their representatives, and the general public.
Ability to work with concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions, and apply mathematical operations to solve or analyze job-related situations.
Ability to create financial forecasts and budgets.
Ability to identify positive or negative variances from expected outcomes.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
