2018-2019 school year, 9 months Part-Time 2 hour/day Non-Benefited position.

PAY   GRADE:   B

FLSA   STATUS:   Non-Exempt

POSITION OBJECTIVE:   

Monitors activities of children and school   areas.  Documents behavior, incidents,   and access.  Diffuses minor situations   and calls for assistance.

DUTIES   & RESPONSIBILITIES:   (These duties are a representative sample; position assignments may vary.)

     
  1. Provides a security presence at the school complex by walking around the facility and monitoring activities and students; reports the presence of unauthorized personnel to the school office.
  2.  
  3. Monitors activities on campus to ensure the safety of students, which may include: identifying safety violations; diffusing situations among students; reinforcing positive social behavior
  4.  
  5. Performs minor housekeeping and groundskeeping tasks to keep the environment free of litter and/or dangerous situations.
  6.  
  7. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

EDUCATION   & EXPERIENCE:   (positions in this class typically require):

High School Diploma or G.E.D.; or, an   equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

•           Ability to complete Crossing Guard training.

KNOWLEDGE:   (position   requirements at entry): Knowledge of:

  •   Basic safety and security principles,   practices, equipment, and procedures;

         customer service principles.

SKILLS: (position   requirements at entry):

Skill in:

  •   Recognizing potential security risks;
  •   Providing customer service;

Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.

PHYSICAL   REQUIREMENTS

Positions in this class typically require:   stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling,   lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive   motions.

Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of   force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to   10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Incumbents may be subjected to moving   mechanical parts, odors, chemicals, extreme temperatures, inadequate   lighting, workspace restrictions, and intense noises.
