Sr. Financial Analyst

Primary responsibilities include planning and analytics, month-end closing and reporting, for multiple marketing departments.
Main area of focus is on all aspects of the Corporate Sales & Marketing Departments and several aspects of the Best Western Rewards frequent stay program.
Reports directly to the Division Controller and works closely with management of the business unit.
Communicates regularly and supports managers in business units and departments. Maintains a thorough understanding of departments. Responds to management requests for specific financial and general business information and evaluations.
To support financial decision making, effectively uses financial data analytics, cost accounting and financial modeling to determine possible revenue opportunities, cost savings, cost avoidance, cost/value of services.
Uses advanced excel skills to aggregate large data sets for both financial reporting and analytical purposes.
Completes forecasting and annual budgeting in accordance with GAAP. Identifies and interprets trends by analyzing data and bringing issues and resolutions to management’s attention.
Completes monthly financial closing process in accordance with GAAP. Prepares monthly journal entries, account reconciliations and research on financial questions, with analysis of budget/forecast-to-actual/prior-year fluctuations to explain variances and ensure accuracy of financial results.
Adheres to financial reporting deadlines, policies, procedures and internal controls.
Identifies and/or implements improvements to processes, reporting and internal controls.
Strong attention to detail and ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously with accuracy.
Ad hoc reporting/projects as needed.
Education and Experience
· Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Minimum 3 years of accounting and finance experience.
