DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:
The Family Services Supervisor coordinates and supports family support activities for the Gila River Indian
Community; includes implementing, coordinating, and providing direct supervision to case management, adult
protection services and family services staff in the following areas: adult protection services, case management
services, burial and general assistance, foster care program, homemaker program, and parenting program
development and facilitation, also includes: planning, organizing, and evaluating the work of subordinates,
program development, prepare reports, periodic review of case records to ensure regulatory compliance, resolving
personnel issues and daily operational issues.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
o Supervise, assist, and support staff that provide direct services to families to ensure delivery of high quality
services in areas of family services and family involvement in accordance with the objectives and performance
standards of Tribal Social Services0 Facilitate monthly staff meetings, provide training, support and consultation to all family services staff.
0 Participate in the development and implementation of program policies and procedures.
0 Review and train Adult Protective Services staff on investigative techniques and duties and responsibilities
of ongoing case management.
0 Provide training and direction to foster care staff on investigations and documentation on home base studies,maintenance of ?les, and ongoing assessments.Participate in program review and evaluation to ensure program accountability and effectiveness.Maintain a current recordkeeping system with adequate provisions for confidentiality.Review Family Service case records yearly to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulation.Prepare timely and accurately written monthly reports detailing Family Service activities.Perform other duties as assigned.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITIY:
0 Knowledge of issues and programs related to adult protective services and family services including
investigation and case management.Knowledge of issues and program related to Foster Care programs.Knowledge of Tribal Court procedures and report writing requirements.Must have good sound work ethics, leadership qualities, including planning and supervisory problem solving.
Skill in case management, staff, program development, and supervision.Ability to coordinate, assign and evaluate work of subordinate staff.Ability to maintain strict standard of confidentiality.Ability to communicate effectively, express ideas clearly both orally and in writing.Ability to operate computers and software (Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, Community Of?cials
and the general public.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
Bachelor degree from an accredited college or university in social work, counseling, psychology or a closely
related field and a minimum of two (2) years family service advocacy and a minimum of two (2) years supervisory
experience in Social Services, or any combination of education, training and work experience equal to a minimum
of six (6) years of family service advocacy or Social Services environment.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
0 Required to pass a background check and f1ngerprint clearance as a condition of employment and must
continue to maintain throughout duration of employment. Background checks are required for positions that
involve regular contact with or control over Community Children in accordance with The Indian Child
Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act, 25 US. C. Sections 3201 through 3210 and C.F.R. Part 63
and positions that have regular contact with the Elderly.
0 Required to obtain a Tribal Driving permit. Valid state driver’s license with a current proof of driving
record for the past 39 months will be required to qualify for a tribal driving permit. Proof of driving
record must be submitted with application and must not be more than 60 days old from the date of
submission of the application.
0 Required mandatory reporter pursuant to Title 7, Chapter 2 (7.205), B.
0 Required to attend Title 7 Mandatory Reporting training on a yearly basis.Supervisory, Salaried Position
