Economic Development Highlights
Glendale is rapidly developing as an entertainment, employment and tourist destination that will forever change the Valley of the Sun landscape.
City officials have paved the way to keep the National Hockey League and Phoenix Coyotes in the Valley by agreeing to build the team a brand new, state-of-the-art arena at the Loop 101 Freeway and Glendale Avenue.
The focal point of the project was the multi-purpose arena that will serve as home to the Coyotes hockey team. Add to the mix a $355 million multi-purpose stadium that will be the home of the Arizona Cardinals and the Fiesta Bowl as well as future Super Bowls and other major events.
Thousands of fans from across the Valley joined officials from Glendale, the Arizona Tourism & Sports Authority, Arizona Cardinals and Fiesta Bowl in April for ceremonial groundbreaking festivities. The stadium site is located between Loop 101 and 91st Ave, and Maryland and Bethany Home Road and is scheduled to be completed for the 2006 NFL season.
