POSITION SUMMARY:
The Operational Review Specialist position works within a team and is responsible for performing on-site operational reviews in all Arizona juvenile probation departments statewide.  The primary emphasis of this position is on auditing and monitoring the compliance, verifying caseload population reports, determining compliance with statutes, judicial codes, administrative orders, funding agreements and program plans, and assisting with verifying accounting/budgeting/financial management systems, policies and procedures. 

The Operational Review Specialist communicates with a variety of county personnel to resolve issues, clarify findings and provide technical assistance as needed to obtain data.  Other duties include: preparing detailed written reports highlighting operational review findings, areas of compliance, deficiencies and recommended corrective action to be taken; and presenting findings and follow-up with the courts or counties to ensure corrective action plans are completed in the proposed timeframe. This position will also assist juvenile probation departments in implementing Evidence Based Practices into their policies and practices. 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, accounting, public administration, behavioral science or related field and five years’ experience in juvenile justice, criminal justice or related field, and preferably have probation experience.  Directly related experience may substitute for the degree requirement.  Other requirements include: computer experience using Microsoft office applications such as Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook or equivalent; and effective communication, including strong writing and analytical skills. A general understanding of the principles of Evidence Based Practice and how to apply EBP in the juvenile justice field is also required.

Travel level: up to 25%.
