POSITION SUMMARY:

The Certification and Licensing Division of the Arizona Supreme Court is looking for the right candidate to fill a Compliance Specialist position to perform several key functions related to the Supreme Court’s Defensive Driving Program and other Supreme Court-regulated programs and professions and the opportunity to provide an important service for Arizona citizens.

The Certification and Licensing Division is responsible for ensuring that regulated professionals and businesses are in compliance with state laws and court rules. Some of the duties of the Compliance Specialist include, monitoring both traditional and online defensive driving classes for compliance with rules, reviewing school websites, and responding to telephone and email inquiries regarding the state’s Defensive Driving Program.

This position also works with other program staff to evaluate defensive driving school applications and supporting documentation, such as policies and procedures, and curriculum. Other responsibilities include assisting with audits of certified schools, participating and/or presenting in Board and school owners’ meetings, testifying in disciplinary hearings and assisting the Division in the administration of the Arizona State Bar Examination. In addition, this position will need to become proficient in reading and interpreting relevant defensive driving statutes and Arizona Rules of Judicial Administration, particularly ACJA §7-205.

The successful candidate will be objective, accountable, and self-motivated. The candidate must also exercise good judgment and be able to work professionally and effectively with all levels of court personnel, as well as school owners and staff, and members of the public. In addition, this position requires an individual who can work effectively on a team, as well as independently. Attention to detail, and a willingness to assist with all aspects of the compliance process are essential.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s Degree or current enrollment in a B.A. or B.S. program, preferably in education, public administration or related field. Directly related experience may substitute for the educational requirements. Effective oral and written communication skills and the ability to work professionally and effectively with judges, court staff, school staff and the public. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and online research methods.

The Compliance Specialist must be able to work a flexible schedule, hold a valid Arizona driver’s license and possess a personal vehicle which is available for business use on a mileage reimbursement basis. Vehicle must be properly registered and insured.

The preferred candidate will be proficient in Spanish.

Travel level: Outside Maricopa County up to 20%.
