Director of Compliance and New School Development - Relocate to Tucson, AZ
We are one of Arizona’s highest performing charter school networks in low income communities and the most rapidly growing. We currently serve 4000 students and plan to serve next year 6000 with the goal of expanding out of state in 2-3 years.

Are you passionate about providing a high-quality education to at-risk areas and contributing to the growth of a high-performing, STEM-focused school network in those areas? As part of the AMS family, your role as Director of Compliance and New School Development is to oversee compliance with the Arizona Department of Education, Arizona State Board for Charter Schools, as well as to develop competitive grant (Charter School Program) and new school applications both in and out of state and serve as the liaison and compliance manager for those grants and charters.

Qualified candidates must have:
  • Exceptional writing skills with a high level of consciousness and comfort being the last person to review documents and submissions to authorizing and oversight entities
  • High level of organization and ability to work with colleagues in an oversight capacity without a formal managerial role over them
  • Knowledge of best practices in other charter school networks across the nation
  • Deep comprehensive knowledge of school program design including the following components: parent engagement, curriculum, instructional methodologies including various pedagogical philosophies
  • At least high-level knowledge of special education, enrollment, and authorizer practices in one or more states
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, especially Word and Excel
Preferred:
  • Prior experience writing Charter School Program or other competitive federal grant applications in education, new school applications to Arizona or other authorizers, and responsibility for ongoing compliance with a state authorizer as well as department of education
  • Existing relationships at the Arizona Department of Education and Arizona State Board for Charter Schools
Responsibilities will involve the following items:
  • Acting as liaison and creating strong relationships with CSP, ADE, ASBCS offices
  • Authorizer
    • Submitting and verifying amendment requests for detail and compliance with all authorizer requirements
    • Writing new school applications
    • Overseeing and preparing each campus for authorizer visits according to requirements
  • Charter School Program
    • Writing applications
    • Ensuring compliance with grant requirements
    • Overseeing all audits
  • Project management
    • Enlisting the support of colleagues for assistance with application in areas requiring specific expertise
    • Overseeing the coordinated efforts of people across many departments for the above purpose.
  • Closely work with Superintendent to ensure all required ADE reports concerning programs, teachers and student data are submitted
