Job Title: Surgery Scheduler
Department: Scheduling
Pay: $14 - $16 per hour
Location: Central Phoenix
SUMMARY: Responsible for coordinating surgery orders with anesthesia, surgery centers, and attending physician schedules. Since the primary duty includes procedure scheduling, a high emphasis is placed on ICD-9 and CPT coding.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.
* Receive physician-ordered surgery packets, and complete all needed information: ICD-9 & CPT coding, demographic info, etc.
* Coordinate all aspects of out-patient surgery including the anesthesia, the outpatient surgery center, patient availability and attending physician schedule.
* Prepare and send surgery packets to outside facilities.
* Continuously keep all physicians and physician assistants aware of any changes in daily surgery schedule.
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Skills / Requirements
REQUIREMENTS:
* High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Ability to write simple correspondence.
* Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to patients, clients, and other employees of the organization.
* Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
* MS Excel and MS Word proficiency.
* MD Plus accounting software preferred or other practice management software experience required.
* Minimum of two years experience of anesthesia, outpatient surgery, patient availability and attending physician schedules.
* Ability to handle a large patient calls and inquiries.
* Proficient in ICD-9 & CPT coding.
* Knowledge of insurance plans and their rules.
* Basic knowledge of hand anatomy preferred.
* Background check required.
