Do you want to help improve the quality of Arizona's early care and education community? Quality First! is a state program working to improve the care in early childhood programs.

The Quality First Assessor conducts early childhood classroom observations using the ECERS/ITERS/FCCRS and CLASS assessment tools. Job responsibilities include classroom observations and data collection, report writing, and follow-up assessments.

Preference will be given to candidates who have child experience, meet the education requirements, and are willing to travel the state on a regular basis. All candidates must have direct experience in the child care field as a teacher or administrator.

Skills / Requirements

* Minimum of a Bachelors degree in education, child or family development, social services or related field.
* Minimum of two years experience working as a teacher, trainer, or primary care provider in an early care and education setting with infants, toddlers and/or preschoolers preferably in early care and education settings.
* Implement policies and procedures as required for Quality First Assessment.
* Demonstrate an understanding of early childhood evaluations, observations and assessments.
* Demonstrates knowledge of ITERS, ECERS-R, FCERS, CLASS and other assessment tools.
* Conduct scheduled observations in support of completing Quality First Assessment tools in selected early care and education settings according to sampling guidelines.
* Complete appropriate Quality First assessment within timelines outlined by First Things First.
* Calculate scores of assessments and enter data into the First Things First Assessment data system.
* Develop and complete individual programmatic tracking tasks as required for completion of monthly reports and submit in a timely manner.
* Participate in inter-rater reliability checks with Quality First Assessment Supervisor or Lead Assessor every 10 assessments and maintain 85% reliability of inter-rater reliability checks.
* Represent Quality First in a professional manner, respecting confidentiality and diversity of participating sites.
*Achieve and maintain assessor/validator status as required by specified assessment tool.
* Knowledge of ADHS and DES certified child care licensure standards.
* Reliable transportation.
* Ability to travel throughout the state and work occasional evenings and weekends.

Important Notes

Documented experience in conducting observational assessments, preferably in early care and education settings.

English/Spanish bilingual preferred.
