The Risk seller risk management group is looking for a highly talented and self-motivated individual to join our team. The candidate would be a part of the PayPal Risk team located in Scottsdale, AZ.

The risk analyst will be responsible for multiple data and analytical initiatives related to test and learn initiatives conducted by the risk team. The analyst will create various dashboards to enable risk mitigation and performance analysis. The risk analyst is also expected to frequently interact with merchant risk analysts in the Merchant Risk Monitoring (MRM) team to understand the emerging trends in merchant risk profiles and translate those findings into tangible requirements for product managers. The candidate will support overall risk goals through detailed data analysis that results in research and development of policies, programs, and processes that drive efficiency and loss reduction in the seller risk management space.

SPECIFIC DUTIES

  • Partner with cross functional teams of operational analysts, analytical and product development resources to identify and promote new solutions and products that will improve the overall effectiveness of merchant risk monitoring and risk programs.
  • Formulate, construct, conduct and analyze controlled experiments and derive valid conclusions from various test and learn pilots pertaining to seller risk that can be applied and scaled to risk operations.
  • Work with operational analysts to build stories on emerging loss trends and opportunities for solution prototype development.
  • Perform in-depth data analysis on risk profiles of existing merchant accounts and prior credit losses to identify new actionable trends.
  • Periodic analysis of new credit losses and present lessons and loss MOs with actionable insights.
  • Create and manage dashboards which enable portfolio management to monitor credit risk and emerging risk threats.
  • Manage periodic updates of various dashboards as well as performance and initiatives.
  • Prepare and present the new trends and opportunities to senior leadership and extended teams.
  • Perform other related assignments/projects as requested by management.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in statistics or any quantitative discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience.
  • Strong knowledge of database querying and data analysis using SAS, SQL and other tools.
  • Expertise in process mapping and automation preferred.
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, and Word).
  • Familiarity with card acquiring industry and credit risk is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve critical business issues using innovative solutions.
  • Self directed and thrives in fast changing environment.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's in Statistics, Business or Industrial Engineering or in lieu of degree four to five years of relevant experience.
  • Minimum five years data analysis and experimental design experience to include extensive data management, preparation of new programs, and coordination of complex projects.

  • Excellent data querying and management skills using SQL, SAS and other tools in multiple databases.
  • Strong expertise in experimental design techniques and experience applying those to real-world problems.
  • Strong knowledge of automation tools and report builders.

  • Demonstrated ability to solve critical business issues using innovative solutions.
  • Strong relationship management skills in order to ensure effective collaboration and goal alignment.
