Job Title: Medical Billing Rep (for government payers)
Department: Billing
Pay: $13-$15/hr DOE
Location: central Phoenix near Thomas & 3rd Street
SUMMARY: Coordinates all patient and insurance billings for the medical facility by performing the following duties. MUST have strong experience with Government payers such as Medicare, The V.A., Railroad Medicare, and Tricare.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.
* Reviews MD Plus reports and contacts government payers on outstanding claims.
* Follows up on calls not returned in a timely fashion.
* Verify patient‚s insurance plan and obtain benefits.
* Reviews daily mail for prioritization, account notations and calls to appropriate party.
* Establishes payment plans and calculates patient responsibility to help patients manage payment of bills.
* Sends delinquent accounts to review for management intervention.
* Reviews and mails patient statements.
* Re-bills to secure payment for patients.
* Responds to patient billing and statement inquiries.
* Assist Patient Liaison with Billing Talks.
* Review accounts for patient and insurance overpayments. Send appropriate notification when required.
* Accurately enter notes in MD Plus regarding letters or correspondence from insurance companies regarding WC Work Status or other notifications. These documents should also be scanned into the appropriate patients chart in MD Plus.
* Makes recommendations to management for applicable write-offs.
* Documents all interactions on an account with a Tickler Note.
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Skills / Requirements
REQUIREMENTS:
* MUST have strong experience with Government payers such as Medicare, The V.A., Railroad Medicare, and Tricare
* High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
* Ability to write simple correspondence.
* Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
* Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
* Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
* Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
* MD Plus Accounting software OR other medical software experience required
