Brief Posting Description

The purpose of the position of Visual Development and Communication Manager is to manage the communication and production of a full range of presentation materials to effectively support the goals of the office of Physician in Chief, Director of Translational Research Division, TGen. This includes: 1) all the day to day electronic communication that pertains to several projects (current, past and future), ensuring that it is answered and reviewed in a timely manner, triaged to appropriate team members and archived for easy and quick retrieval and 2) the development of all presentation materials to accurately reflect the ideas of the Director of Translational Research to various audiences including but not limited to: benefactors, biotech startups, peers, VC, etc.

Detailed Description

* Office Manager at TD2; a satellite office of the PIC TGen's office
* Research and prepare highly sensitive and confidential correspondence (internal and external);
* Handle and triage of all communications (email, phone and fax) as related to the office of the PIC such as; externally with drug development companies, physicians, and healthcare providers as well as internally with all aspects of TGen, TD2, SHC, MCS and TCRS
* Development of all presentation materials including but not limited to PowerPoint presentations, conference materials, information brochures, newsletters and other publications related to special events and programs
* Design and prepare detailed presentations and reports for ongoing projects and for proposals to obtain new agents, grants and philanthropy (e.g. both TGen foundation and external foundations)
* Maintain first line liaison between PIC and patients, granting agencies (NCI, NFCR), collaborators (USON, MD Anderson, Tower Hem/Onc, SHC), Benefactors (Bisgrove Star Foundation, Flinn Foundation, other donors), Editorial responsibilities, all of TGen personnel
* Delegation of office coordination (prepares faxes, message distribution, photocopies, filing and record management)
* Daily interaction with a number of individuals both at TGen within and outside the Division of Translational Research as well as interaction with PCRT, SHC, TD2, TGen Foundation, MCS, MCT and many others to ensure the timely delivery and efficient translation of the various methods of communication required for the Director(PIC).
* Highly charged, dynamic conditions

Skills / Requirements

Minimum Bachelor's degree required as well as: Extensive knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of oral and written communications and interpersonal relations skills in order to determine the most effective proposal and presentation materials. Ability to use a variety of personal computer software applications including: PowerPoint, office 2007 or XP. Knowledge of HIPAA practices and overall patient confidentiality. Medical Terminology required and ability to research various medical and clinical related topics. Ability to edit and prepare presentation materials on two levels: copy, editing assuring accuracy of POC's content within the presentation in regards to grammar, punctuation, syntax and 2) substantive editing requiring critical sense and evaluation of factual accuracy and consistency of information, overall consistency of subject matter, verification of facts and often clinical research data, rearrangement of material, and evaluation and documentation as to accuracy and thoroughness. Minimum of 3 years of related experience is required but 7+ years is preferred as the interpersonal and technical skills required come with experience.
