Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist

Primary Function: Develop and implement services to assist SEABHS clients to obtain and maintain employment. Work includes but is not limited to accompanying clients to business/ employment sites, overseeing work training and providing assistance in acquiring employment and developing job skills. Other duties may include soliciting work for work crews, developments of job leads, and educating clients about the world of work.

Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma/GED. One (1) year of documented experience (preferably working with individuals with disabilities and involved in the provision of vocational rehabilitation services) or equivalent relatable industry experience. Required certification: Job Coach (can be obtained within 1 year of hire.)    


  • Ability to pass fingerprint clearance
  • Experience / education in business, rehabilitation, counseling, social work, or area of expertise needed for work assignment..
  • Experience working with people with disabilities or supervising and training staff.
  • Ability to think creatively and work independently.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with employers and clients.
  • Have knowledge in Work Behavior-Support Training, Job Analysis, Job Development and Marketing to employers of RSA Clients’ abilities, Ethics and Boundaries and Disability Awareness.
  • Knowledge of development and use of “Natural Supports” in the workplace.


  • To ensure that the service user is an active participant in all phases of the Job Placement process.
  • To identify potential employment opportunities through accessing existing data, conducting an employment survey and networking.
  • To market the Employment Program and services, as well as client abilities to Employers.
  • To complete a Job analysis through observing a skilled worker completing the job and identifying appropriate instructional strategies.
  • To complete an environmental analysis to access whether the workplace will be supportive environment for a client who may need some level of ongoing support from his / her co-workers.
  • To arrange job interviews for the client and attend job interviews.
  • To act as an advocate for the client where necessary.
  • To provide employment supports to the client, employer, supervisor and co-workers.
  • To arrange job interviews for the client and attend job interviews.
  • To act assist with the travel arrangements for the client.
  • To train and assist the client throughout job placement and where necessary completes the task in accordance with employer standards.
  • To report on a regular basis regarding clients progress.
  • To respond immediately when issues arise concerning the clients well being.
  • To maintain high professional standards and confidentiality at al times.
  • To participate when required in case conferences, training and development programs.
  • Develop employment opportunities including outsource and enclave work as needed.
  • Develop and document progress on client goals and objectives
  • Participate in family team process.
  • Any other duties assigned from time to time.
