We are looking for a Surgery Scheduler for our Administrative Office. Responsibilities include: Skills / Requirements
1. Obtains all demographic, insurance and PCP information for the patient.
2. Schedules the surgery with the appropriate hospital. 3. Coordinates the DME appointment for the surgical patients at the time of the Pre-Op appointment, completes the DME Pre-surgical Order (including ID number) and fax to the DME designated authorization and verification representative. 4. Schedules all pre-op and post – op appointments for the patient. 5. Sends a confirmation letter to the patient along with pre and post op appointments and instructions. 6. Obtains medical clearance from appropriate physician(s) involved with patient care and faxes the information to the hospital. 7. Faxes pre-op orders, H&P, and office notes from the surgeon to the hospital. 8. Prepares x-rays and surgery chart for the physician/PA. 9. Inputs procedure, ICD-9 and CPT codes, date and location of test and patient information into the queue in a timely manner to obtain the authorization and verification of benefits from the respective department. 10. Manages incoming authorizations in a timely manner and communicates with the Authorization and Verification team on a regular basis. 11. Verifies patient information for accuracy on all incoming documents prior to scanning into patient charts. 12. Responds to voicemail messages in a timely manner. Voicemail should be checked regularly throughout each day and should be cleared before the end of each business day. 13. Communicates with patients, providing the highest quality of customer service. EDUCATION: Requires a high school diploma or GED. EXPERIENCE: Two – four years surgery scheduling experience. Important Notes
