Posted Date: 11/5/2009 Shift: Day Category: Information Technology - Positions Department: Banner Alzheimer's Institute Facility: Banner Alzheimer's Institute Position Type: Full-Time-FA Shift Hours: 8am - 5pm M-F Hours Per Week: 1.0FTE 40/hrs Overview: We are responsible for analyzing the FDG-PET and AV45-PET data acquired in the previous ADNI project and this newly awarded ADNI-GO projects. These two projects are multi-institutional and only 3 institutes get funding to analyze the data. We are honored to be part of the largest projects founded by the federal government ever (NIH). We will be able to develop new methods to detect imaging based changes in the earliest possible AD stage (before its onset) and contribute to the usefulness of the image technologies in the future clinical trials. Provides advanced computer support for both clinical and research operations through development and/or adaptation of PET specific software; and data analysis techniques. Responsibilities: 1.Exports existing computer algorithms for inter-modality co registration to be operational on both Silicon Graphics and Linux platforms. 2.Performs validation of the existing co registration and functional brain mapping techniques against those featured in SPM.3.Develops a step-by-step procedure for analyzing clinical studies for seizure and dementia diagnoses using SPM. Work with the Medical Director and Staff Scientist to produce images in a format suitable for interpretation and distribution for referring physicians. This procedure will need to be adapted to all existing computer platforms including Linux, SGI, SUN and Windows4.Assists in the development of a formal data backup procedure for periodic total system backups in addition to project specific backups.5.Submits written documentation of the above tasks and assists in the writing of an abstract, which describes all aspects of the project Skills / Requirements
Bachelor or Master of Science degree in mathematics, computer science, engineering, statistics or other related discipline. Experience with MATLAB and/or SPM for analyzing PET data is preferred. familiar with statistics and statistical software such as SPSS. Must possess the ability to independently identify and solve operational problems. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are also required. Experience with Linux operation system, UNIX workstations, Windows based personal computersMS windows and office as well as SPSS, Adobe photo, publisher, reference manager.Basic knowledge of matlab programing, familiar with SPM,AFNI and/or freeSurfer.Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.Excellent communication skills. Some overtime required to meet deadlines for Grant/manuscript/abstract. Must be willing to learn new data analysis methods.Must have basic knowlege of statistics. Understand the physics of the MRI technique. Basic knowledge of the PET physics. Multivariate statistics knowledge
