Overview: Plant Mechanic experience in a Health Care Setting is preferred.This position is to provide operator and mechanical skills in the proper operation and repair of steam/hot water boiler, centrifugal/reciprocating chillers, heating ventilating air conditioning (HVAC), and life support systems. Also assists in the preventive maintenance and repair of plant and facilities equipment. Monitors the proper performance of all equipment through routine equipment inspection utilizing the appropriate equipment instrumentation and computers. Maintains detailed log of shift activity. Responsibilities: Operates and assists in the proper maintenance and repair of steam/hot water boilers, soft water centrifugal/ reciprocating chillers, cooling towers, HVAC, and all pumped systems, chilled water, condensate water, domestic hot and cold water, heating hot water, condensate, sewage ejector, medical air, vacuum, mechanical air, and fuel oil. Performs and maintains plant water treatment programsAssists in the operation of the emergency generator system, fire monitoring and control systems. Participates in energy management programs.Performs preventative maintenance duties on plant equipment and machinery with supervision.Maintains a detailed log on all required facility equipment. Responds to assigned HVAC calls, general maintenance calls, and emergency calls as required. Assists as a member of the Fire Response Team.Observes all safety regulations, practices and uses appropriate safety equipment as required. Keeps assigned work area neat and clean. Performs other duties as assigned and assists in other areas of Facilities Services as required by the Supervisor.Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards. Must be able to communicate effectively and perform basic mathematical computations. Requires experience as a Plant Mechanic or successful completion and verification of a trade school or apprenticeship program. Effective human relation skills are required. Plant Mechanic experience in a Health Care Setting is preferred.
