Jobing Description

Definition: Under general supervision from Gaming Supervisor, monitors gaming operations for compliance with all requirements of the Gaming Ordinance, SRPMIC Gaming Regulatory Agency, Compact, and/or NIGC. Handles patron disputes. Conducts compliance checks, monitors slot machines and (EPROM) chips compliance. Conducts inspections of special areas. Coordinates investigative duties and reports. Position will require being able to work on all shifts, on all days of the week.
Essential Functions: (Essential functions, as defined under the Americans With Disabilities Act, may vary among positions, but may include the following tasks, knowledges, abilities, skills, and other characteristics. This list of tasks is ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY and is not intended to be a comprehensive listing of tasks performed by all positions in this classification.)

1. Monitors casino floor, observing customers and employees to ensure compliance with Arizona Gaming Regulations, Gaming Commission Regulations, and Casino management practices, policies and procedures. Monitors gaming activities to prevent cheating and fraud. Writes incident reports and follows up on all reported incidents/violations of regulations and controls, working closely with Casino floor security and financial personnel. Monitors customers and employees to ensure no cheating or illegal gaming devices are used. Reports observed/detected irregularities in any department.

2. Prepares and makes special inspections when needed. Monitors money transfers and cash drop procedures. Performs unannounced surveillance and monitoring visits continuously during shift to all public and secured areas of the casino. Verifies jackpots and, whenever possible, is physically present when slot machines are opened for any reason. Monitors log sheets and incident reports. Conducts random testing/auditing of interval controls systems. Checks employee’s licenses for irregularities. Escorts State Gaming Agency personnel when inspections occur.

3. Observes and documents slot machine logic board access, and provide forms for the release of computer chips. Maintains possession and control of slot machine computer access keys and tamperproof tape. Observes control chip changes and prepares appropriate documents for the changes. Checks key control board log to ensure keys are all accounted for, and monitors log sheet for key usage. Examines, tests, and inspects gaming equipment.

4. Reviews and processes patron complaints. Conducts interviews of disputes and complaints. Gathers evidence and facts for reports including witness statements and surveillance tapes. Contacts law enforcement if evidence warrants. Submits a Shift Activity Report at the end of each shift. Monitors casino for any physical hazards or acts/omissions that would jeopardize the safety of patrons and employees.

Skills / Requirements
High School Diploma or G.E.D. and two (2) years experience in law enforcement, governmental regulatory activities, gaming, or a closely related field. Must be able to receive and maintain SRPMIC and State gaming licenses. Preference will be given to applicants with post high school coursework in Law Enforcement, Gaming, Hospitality Industry, or Government Regulatory Systems. Any equivalent combination of experience and education that will allow the applicant to satisfactorily perform the duties of the job may be considered when filling the position.
