Job: Scanner Operator

This position will support the Census Paper Data Capture Center located 4427 W. Buckeye Rd in Phoenix. Census production work will be completed by the end of July 2010. This temporary position will also end on or before that time.

This opening is for a full-time position, which will work 40 hours per week. Anticipated full-time schedules will work Monday – Friday. You may specify which hours you are available when you complete the job application on-line.

Once Training is completed, employees will be assigned to their regular schedule.
* Schedules for 1st shift may include hours such as: 6:00 AM -2:30 PM, 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM.
* Schedules for 2nd shift may include hours such as: 3:30 PM – Midnight, 4:00 PM – 12:30 AM, 4:30 PM – 1:00 AM, 5:00 PM – 1:30 AM.

Responsible for proper operation of scanners which includes starting, stopping, loading and unloading of forms, and clearing jams.
Adjustment of scanner to optimize scanning production.
Repetitive physical activity.
Position requires gripping, turning, twisting, standing, sitting, bending, stooping and squatting.
Clean and adjust machine
Unload scanner, monitors scanner activity using the control monitor
Perform exception handling, which includes clearing jams and deleting batches, if unacceptable for scanning.
Must meet established productivity and accuracy standards.
Make judgment calls on when to ask the Team Leader for assistance
Specialized Scanner Tech will replace and clean, feed mechanism on predetermine time intervals. Between replacement times, will clean belts and wheels in preparation for next timed replacement.

* High School Diploma or GED
* Basic familiarity with personal computer
* Basic reasoning and judgment skills, as well as basic math skills
* Must be able to read and write and communicate clearly.
* Must possess basic mechanical ability to perform daily functions
* Good eye-hand coordination and corrected vision to 20/20
* Must be able to perform quick and precise hand and finger movements
* Must be able to lift a minimum of 20 lbs
* Previous data entry experience
* Experience with printing, scanning or reproduction type machines, and PC experience required.
* Specialized Scanner Tech must have experience maintaining and/or repairing imaging equipment.
* Requires Suitability Determination (Government Background check), including fingerprinting.
