Job: Mail Receipt/Material Handler (FT)

This position will support the Census Paper Data Capture Center located 4427 W. Buckeye Rd in Phoenix. Census production work will be completed by the end of July 2010. This temporary position will also end on or before that time.

This opening is for a full-time position, which will work 40 hours per week. Anticipated full-time schedules will work Monday – Friday. You may specify which hours you are available when you complete the job application on-line.

Once Training is completed, employees will be assigned to their regular schedule.
* Schedules for 1st shift may include hours such as: 6:00 AM -2:30 PM, 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM.
* Schedules for 2nd shift may include hours such as: 3:30 PM – Midnight, 4:00 PM – 12:30 AM, 4:30 PM – 1:00 AM, 5:00 PM – 1:30 AM.

Unload rolling bins and pallets from carrier’s delivery tractor-trailers. May push or pull a rolling bin weighing up to 800 lbs.

Direct truck traffic and parking
Track receipts counts, dates, and disposition
Read cart priority codes to determine priority level and move to appropriate staging area
Move rolling carts of mail between work areas on the production floor
Lift trays on to and from rolling carts
Operate hand and electric pallet jack
Load empty carts and non-Census mail onto carrier’s trailers
Must meet established productivity and accuracy standards
This position entails sustained and repetitive physical activity.
Prepare mail for sorting, including removing mail from USPS bags and hampers
Segregating Undeliverable as Addressed (UAA), damaged mail, un-sortable mail
Orienting and organizing envelopes in trays
Responsible for moving loaded carts from one department to another

High School Diploma or GED
* Basic reasoning and judgment skills, as well as basic math skills
* Must be able to read and write and communicate clearly.
* Good eye-hand coordination and corrected vision to 20/20
* Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 lbs, and push or pull a rolling bin weighting up to 800 lbs. * * Protective footwear will be required
* Requires Suitability Determination (Government Background check), including fingerprinting.
