Title: Financial Analyst
Department: Finance & Administration Reports to: Chief Operating Officer Revision Date: October, 2009 Other: Exempt, $50,000 - $57,200, Regular Employee with Benefits Position Summary: Compiles and analyzes information for the organization, specifically financial, campaign, donor and community data and communicates findings to the Chief Operating Officer. Initiates and leads projects and activities with other departments, and is responsible for providing support and complex assistance as needed throughout the organization. The Financial Analyst is part of the Finance team and functions as a source of information and contributing team member to find solutions to issues that affect the integrity of financial data. Summary of Responsibilities: • Conducts and interprets financial analysis and determines implications of data. • Demonstrates ability to perform financial analysis and creates key financial statements required by the organization. • Identifies, analyzes, and provides solutions to correct issues and develop processes to avoid recurrence. • Identifies, analyzes and solves issues as discovered. • Interprets the major types of date used by the organization. • Demonstrates proficiency in utilizing tools used for quantitative and techniques. • Identifies trends and developments in competitive environments and presents findings to senior management. • Creates and develops integrated analyses, projections, reports, and presentations as required. • Other duties as defined. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Systems (analytical area) and minimum of three years financial/business analysis experience. o Any equivalent combination of education, experience and training that provides the knowledge and abilities to do the job. • Knowledge of cost and financial accounting principles, practices and procedures. • Knowledge of principles and techniques used in conducting management studies, system analyses and financial analyses. • Demonstrated strategic and independent thinking with ability to connect the big picture of the organization in day to day work and projects. • Strong initiative and ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects in a fast paced, changing and dynamic environment. • Must be quick, a self starter, possess ability to look ahead and take charge of a situation. • High degree of judgment and independent decision making required. • High degree of problem solving required, including root cause analysis experience. • Strong customer service skills with team first mentality and ability to interpret needs, maintain appropriate relationships and provide excellent service to internal/external customers. • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, with demonstrated ability to communicate very complex issues and participate in group and team meetings. • Effectively present information to management, public groups and auditors including the ability to respond to questions. • Knowledge of internal control systems and procedures. • Ability to write reports, procedure manuals, policies, and general business communication. • Exceptional attention to detail in all phases of work. • Must display high energy, drive and follow through in everyday work and completion of assignments. • Demonstrated ability to work and function with confidential information and data. Technical Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Requirements: • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced proficiency in Excel and/or Access desirable. • Demonstrated financial analysis knowledge and skills, with ability to work with and understand different and large types of disparate data. • Previous experience with working with databases and multiple systems environments, with ability to learn and use financial and statistical software, as well as new software and systems as required. Other Requirements: • Ability to work hours outside the standard 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM timeframe and to travel, if necessary. • Valid Arizona driver’s license, proof of automobile insurance, and daily access to personal vehicle. Reporting to this position: No direct reports Physical demands and work environment: • Work is performed primarily in an office setting and while performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, and demonstrate manual dexterity. • During specific times of the year, the employee is required to visit a variety of direct service settings across the community. Additional mobility is required during this activity. • Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 25 pounds) during the course of the workday. Important Notes
