Water Resources Department – Water Operation Services
Salary Range: $48,848 – 61,152 Job Posting: #9154 Opening Date: November 2, 2009 Closing Date: November 13, 2009 Classified We have a great opportunity for several individuals to perform skilled work in the installation, testing, maintenance and replacement of residential and commercial water meters. We are seeking candidates with good technical skills, strong customer service skills, and enjoy working with a team. RESPONSIBILITIES • Plans and schedule for regular maintenance work, installation, testing and change out involving water meter service. • Performs customer service functions; provides assistance and information regarding department services, procedures, responds to complaints, requests for meter testing, researches problems/complaints and initiates and resolution to water meter related issues. • Observes and monitors employee performance and provide input to the Water Operations Supervisor. • Communicates with meter manufacture regarding meter design and specifications. • Monitors inventory and places orders for all meter stock and required maintenance equipment. • Communicates with citizens, contractors and staff members verbally through one-on-one or group settings, two-way radio or by telephone in a professional and courteous manner. QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications: • A high school diploma or GED equivalent any combination of training, education or experience equivalent to three years experience repairing, testing and maintaining residential and commercial water meter, electronic water meter operation and water meter calibration techniques and procedures. • Experience with construction methods, procedures, and equipment used in system installation, maintenance, and repair and workplace safety. • Proficiency using tools including a hand shovel, hand tools, power saws; compressors with hole hogs, jackhammers and other related assigned tools. • Ability to work rotating weekend shift, holidays and a call-out schedule. • Ability to work in extreme weather conditions and move and lift heavy objects (50 pounds or more). • Must possess and maintain a valid Arizona Driver’s License, with no major driving citations in the last 39 months. Desirable Qualifications: • Experience reading blueprints and quarter-section maps. Important Notes
