Salary Range: $12.68/Hourly Job Posting: #9151 Opening Date: November 2, 2009 Closing Date: December 11, 2009 Non-Benefited The City of Scottsdale is looking for 2 enthusiastic and self motivated people to join the Professional Baseball staff at Scottsdale Stadium and Indian School Park for the 2010 spring season. Scottsdale Stadium is an 11 acre, 12,000 seat facility with 2 full sized playing fields, and a 1/2 field. It is home to San Francisco Giants Spring Training, the Arizona Fall League, and a series of year round special events. Indian School Park consists of 4 full sized playing fields, a 1/2 field and is home to the San Francisco Giants Minor League Complex; Giants extended spring training, Giants Rookie League, Giants Instructional League and hosts numerous recreational baseball leagues and tournaments throughout the year. The successful candidates will work 40 hours a week for a total of 14 weeks. RESPONSIBILITIES The Professional Baseball Intern will gain knowledge and experience in all aspects of turf management by working on multiple professional baseball fields. Daily duties will include assisting in set- up for games and events, mowing, edging, fertilizing, stadium maintenance, irrigation maintenance, planter maintenance and trash removal. Along with field dragging, mound and home plate packing, bullpen repair, prep skinned areas, pulling tarp and setting up/tearing down for batting practice. Candidates selected for the intern position must be punctual and professional, energetic and enthusiastic, outgoing with a positive attitude and personality. Performs other duties as required. QUALIFICATIONS
* Must be currently enrolled or recently graduated from a two or four year turf management or related college program. * Experience in turf/ball field maintenance. * Ability to lift and move equipment weighing 50 lbs. * Ability to work nights and weekends as event schedule dictates. * Ability to manually water, drag and pack home plate, mound areas and fields. * Ability to perform trash pickup and operate a litter control device. * Experience operating a small tractor, trucks, and EZ-GO carts. * Ability to trim and prune shrubs and trees. * Ability to manually dig up sprinklers and perform minor repairs and maintenance. * Must have a valid driver's license with no major driving citations in the last 39 months.
