Program Objective The content and structure of this program has been formulated so the trainee develops sufficient techniques and skills to secure a Commercial Drivers License and to satisfy requirements for entry-level employment in the Truck Driver Profession. Program goals include familiarity with current over the road truck equipment, working knowledge of basic operation and safety procedures, adherence to stats and federal laws and trip planning. Graduates of this program can expect to secure employment as: Commercial Licensed Driver Trainee; Second Seat Driver, or Entry Level Solo Driver. Training Breakdown Classroom (80 hours): CDL Preparation which includes General Knowledge, Air Brakes, Combination, Pre-Trip Inspection, Backing concepts, Coupling & Uncoupling, Hours of Service, Map Reading, Log Books, Hazard Perception, Defensive Driving, Cargo Handling, Rules & Regulations (FMCSR) and Driver's Safety. Range / Road (80 hours): Range maneuvers, 3-Step Air Brake check, Pre-trip safety inspection, Straight Backing, 45 Degree Alley Docking, Offset Backing, Full Parallel, City Driving, Basic Control, Visual Search, Progressive Shifting, Extreme Driving, Speed & Space Management.
