Program Objective

The content and structure of this program has been formulated so the trainee develops sufficient techniques and skills to secure a Commercial Drivers License and to satisfy requirements for entry-level employment in the Truck Driver Profession.

Program goals include familiarity with current “over the road” truck equipment, working knowledge of basic operation and safety procedures, adherence to stats and federal laws and trip planning.

Graduates of this program can expect to secure employment as: Commercial Licensed Driver Trainee; Second Seat Driver, or Entry Level Solo Driver.

Training Breakdown
Classroom (80 hours): CDL Preparation which includes General Knowledge, Air Brakes, Combination, Pre-Trip Inspection, Backing concepts, Coupling & Uncoupling, Hours of Service, Map Reading, Log Books, Hazard Perception, Defensive Driving, Cargo Handling, Rules & Regulations (FMCSR) and Driver’s Safety.

Range / Road (80 hours): Range maneuvers, 3-Step Air Brake check, Pre-trip safety inspection, Straight Backing, 45 Degree Alley Docking, Offset Backing, Full Parallel, City Driving, Basic Control, Visual Search, Progressive Shifting, Extreme Driving, Speed & Space Management.

Total Hours: 160

Available Schedules

Days: Monday - Thursday
6:00 a.m. to 4:30
4 weeks / 160 hours
(2 week classroom / 2 week road/range)

Nights: Monday - Friday
5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
5 weeks / 160 hours
(2 week classroom / 3 weeks road/range)

Weekends: Saturday & Sunday
6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
8 weekends / 160 hours
(4 weekend’s classroom / 4 weekend’s road/range)

Costs

Full Program (160 Hours): $3,995.00 (Cash) * OR $4,995.00 (Financed)
* A $100.00 charge will be added if paying by credit card.

Refresher Program (120 Hours): $3,495.00 (Cash) OR $4,195.00 (Financed)

Skills / Requirements
Basic Requirements:

All students are referred to our Admissions Department to determine eligibility requirements. Basic requirements include:

• Valid Arizona Driver’s License (1 yr. experience on Class “D”)
• 18-years old (21 years for over-the-road driving)
• Pass DOT physical ($25.00 at Accident DR. or provide your own)
• Pass DOT Drug Screen (Included)
• Acceptable Criminal History (To be determined by SWTDT)
• Acceptable Driving Record (To be determined by SWTDT after viewing a MVR
available at SWT&T for $10.00 or provide your own )
• High School Diploma, GED, or pass our “Ability to Benefit” Test
• $25.00 to AZMVD for class A permit fees plus $10.00 per endorsement
