Duties and Responsibilities:
The W. P. Carey School of Business has a current opening for a Development Officer Senior with varying experience matching assigned goals and responsibilities. The Sr. level Development Officer will be responsible for identifying and promoting major gift prospect relationships and developing long-range plans for their involvement in the School and ASU campaigns. With a lead role responsibility in Development and Alumni Affairs working with all other members of the unit offering input and advice on cultivating, soliciting, and closing donor investments as well as advising on stewarding donors. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: identify, cultivate and solicit a top-tier of prospects with major gift capability through research, personal visits and written and oral communications handling all confidential materials and discussions with appropriate discretion; develop strategies, briefing materials, written proposals and acknowledgments for the Dean as well as accompanying the Dean, when appropriate, on development-related visits in and outside of the local area.

This position contributes to the School's aggressive fundraising goals through effective and professional representation of the school in the development community of ASU, ASU Foundation and throughout ASU. Continuous communication is essential with the Assistant Dean of Development and Alumni Affairs and the School's Deans in matters related to fundraising and prospect development.

DAYS AND SCHEDULE:
Monday-Friday 8:00AM-5:00PM; local driving, possible air travel on occasion, and attends night and some weekend events.

Skills / Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a related field AND five years successful professional development and/or fundraising related experience, preferably in higher education: OR, Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skill and abilities have been achieved.

Desired Qualifications:
A demonstrated record of successful major gift solicitations, and experience designing and executing donor identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies. Excellent research, writing and interpersonal communication skills. Evidence of understanding, and the ability to articulate, the accomplishments and goals of a complex organization along with sound judgment skills necessary for interacting with donor prospects, trustees, faculty and staff. Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously and meeting continuous deadlines. Experience with an entrepreneurial approach to fund-raising. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with a donor database a plus.

Must possess a valid Arizona Driver's License upon employment.
