Jobing Description

Maintaining server backups, backup system maintenance, and troubleshooting active or potential issues with the use of various tools.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Support both Shared and Dedicated backup environments through the use of different backup applications.

Identify, research, and resolve issues found on defined servers.

Preform scheduled restores and/or assist other departments with restores as needed.

Complete intermediate task’s that are assigned to you.

Remain available via company cell phone, pager or remote connection during off hours.

Skills / Requirements

Internal communication between department(s) on Backup Performance

Minimal documentation skills for documenting tasks and knowledge base articles.

A basic understanding in the following systems and services:
o CommVault.
o Evault.
o Backup Exec.
o Windows 2003 Server.
o Windows 2008 Server.
o SQL 2000/2005 Database Administration.
o MySQL Administration.
o Virus Scanning Administration
o Basic understanding for server hardware and hardware maintenance.
o Basic network troubleshooting skills.
o Must work well in a team environment or alone, as necessary
o Must be able to work an On-Call Rotation and be available at any hour for restore requests.
o Flexible approach and enjoy working in a rapidly changing and growing organization
o Represent the company in a professional manner at all times and in all forms of communication

Desired Skills:

Experience managing Linux operating systems and Windows operating systems

Prior experience with CommVault, Evault, or Backup Exec.

Prior experience upgrading and maintaining server hardware.

At least one-year experience in a similar environment is preferred
