People Served: More than 15,000 children, adults and seniors, with developmental, psychological, psychiatric, emotional, sexual and behavioral disorders are served annually.

Devereux Arizona provides tools for children, adults and families with behavioral health and mental health needs to become successful members of the community. We are recruiting for full-time DIRECT CARE PROFESSIONALS(DCPs) for our residential treatment center for youth in Scottsdale.

SHIFTS AVAILABLE:
Full-time: Thurs/Fri - 1:00pm-11:00pm, Sat/Sun - 7:00am-5:00pm
Full-time Overnights: Sun/Mon/Tues/Wed - 10:30pm-8:30am

Once you're hired, this position requires 2 full weeks of training (paid) and you'll need to be available for ALL days/times to be considered. Upcoming new hire orientation is as scheduled: DECEMBER NEW HIRE ORIENTATION: Mon, 12/7 – Fri, 12/11: 8:30am-5pm & Mon, 12/14 – Fri, 12/18.

Our Residential Treatment Center (RTC) is a 48-bed facility where children and adolescents experiencing emotional and behavioral disorders live, attend school, receive intense psychiatric, behavior management and social services. We have programs for children ranging from 5 to 17 years old. The ratio for our residential programs is no more than a 1:6 ratio (one staff for every six clients).

The RTC admits children and adolescents with a wide range of issues. As a Direct Care Professional (DCP), you may be working with clients who:
- lack stability in mood or temperament
- have difficulty forming relationships
- have disruptive behavior
- are oppositional or defiant
- have trouble paying attention
- are depressed or suicidal
- have been physically or sexually abuse
- have a history of substance abuse

As a DCP, you will be responsible to actively assist your assigned clients in the participation, involvement and routine of their program, such as:
- Facilitating groups (ex.self-esteem, anger management)
- Personal hygiene
- Chores & room care
- Meals
- Medication times
- Recreation activities
- Peer interactions & socialization
- Working on their treatment goals

All DCPs are responsible to be creative and follow a structured activity schedule with the clients. You will be expected to encourage, praise and model participation in productive and positive recreational activities. You will also be expected to have discussions with clients that revolve around appropriate social interactions, practicing taking turns and working as a team member.

Skills / Requirements
High School diploma or GED and some behavioral health experience working with children/adolescents required. Bachelors degree in Psychology, Sociology or relevant field preferred. Must be 21 years of age or older (per licensing standards).

You must also meet ALL of the following Pre-Employment Requirements to be considered:

-Valid AZ Driver's License & pass DMV 39-month history check
-Current AZ Fingerprint Clearance Card (or eligibility to obtain with no restrictions)
-Pre-employment Physical and Physical Abilities Test (see below): NOTE - You must PASS both the physical and physical abilities test to be considered for this position.
-Drug test within 24hrs of offer w/ negative results

Physical Requirements:
- Significant and frequent amounts of walking, sitting, stooping, bending & standing required
- Ability to lift 20–45 lbs to physically intervene with clients per Crisis Prevention
Intervention techniques
- Frequent planned, outside activities causing exposure to sunlight and heat
- Annual physical and Tuberculosis (TB) test showing evidence you are able to
perform your job and free from TB

Physical Abilities Test (to test range of motion to perform physical interventions):
Active Range of Motion (Neck, Shoulder, Elbow, Forearm, Wrist, Back, Hip/Knee)
Resisted Motion (Shoulder, Elbow, Forearm/Wrist, Hand, Hip, Knee)
Maneuvers (Phalens, Tinels, Finkelsteins)
Heel/Toe Walk
Grip and Static Strength Testing
Work/Positional Tolerances
Lifting Ability
