Jobing Description
Under the supervision of the Dietary Services Manager, the Cook will prepare food in accordance with prescribed resident diet specifications, facility procedures and dietary and sanitary regulations.
Food Preparation and Serving: Prepare and serve food and meals in accordance with planned menus, diet plans, recipes, portion and temperature control procedures and facility policies. Assist in checking trays for menu and diet preferences, accuracy and portion control. Maintain clean and sanitary work areas, equipment, floors, dishes and utensils. Maintain and ensure proper storage of food and supplies. Adhere to universal precautions and sanitary and infection control policies and procedures. Administrative Functions: Assist the Dietary manger and/or Dietician to direct the activities of the dietary associates. Review menus prior to preparation of food. Review ad process diet changes and ensure menus are maintained and followed in accordance with established procedures. Supply: Ensure that food and supplies are available for the next meals and assist in inventory and storing incoming foods and supplies. Report and hazardous conditions, equipment, accidents and incidents. Safety: Comply with all company policies related to safety and infection control procedures including the proper use of mechanical lifts, gait belts and personal protective back supports. Residents' Rights and Positive Relationships: Understand, comply with and promote all rules and regulations regarding resident's rights. Promote positive relationships with residents, visitors, and regulators, to include presenting a professional appearance. Other job functions: Adhere to Avalon's Code of Conduct and Business Ethics Policy Attend and participate in educational activities, in service training and staff meetings Participate in Quality Improvement activities Other duties as assigned or needed. Full-Time: Variable shifts, Weekend Availability is required! Skills / Requirements
„X Previous, verifiable experience as a Cook is required. Previous SNF/LTC experience is preferred.
„X High school diploma or equivalent is required. Must have the ability to read, write and follow oral and written directions at a level necessary to accomplish the job. „X Must be able to relate positively and favorably to residents, families and to work cooperatively with other associates. „X Must maintain regular attendance. „X Food Handler's Card required. Must meet all local health regulations, and pass post-employment physical exam if required. This requirement also includes drug screening, criminal background investigation and reference inquiry. „X Must be capable of performing the Essential Job Functions of this job, with or without reasonable accommodation. Physical and Sensory Requirements: Good oral and written communication skills are a must. Must have calm demeanor, good motor skills and the ability to follow directions. Important Notes
