Jobing Description
A New Leaf, a non profit agency is seeking a Full Time Bilingual (Spanish and English) Behavioral Health Counselor 1 for their outpatient counseling center in Mesa, AZ.

SCHEDULE: Mondays to Fridays. 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM. Hours might vary according to program needs.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: General duties and responsibilities will
include, but are not limited to:

1. Provide individual, group, and family counseling to primarily Spanish speaking families.
2. Attend and actively contribute to weekly staff and training meetings
3. Document and submit significant and routine paperwork such as progress
notes, periodic assessments, statistical reports, daily activities and varied incident
reports, etc., as required by the program and submit to appropriate personnel.
4. Effectively build and participate in Child and Family Teams
5. Must be able to work in a collaborative team environment in a fast-paced clinic and community setting.
6. Provide varied verbal and physical crisis intervention and counseling.

CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT:
Any offer of employment with A New Leaf is contingent upon a successful consumer report to include verification of employment, Driving records, & criminal background search.

Skills / Requirements
MINIMUM EDUCATION/SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS: Must meet all of the following:
1) Master Degree required. Associate or independent license preferred.
2) Must have experience counseling children and adolescents
3) Must be fully Bilingual: English and Spanish. (Testing required)

The following requirements must also be met:
1. Must meet the following driving insurability guidelines: maximum of 1 moving violation in the last 3 yrs in combination w/one at fault accident OR maximum of 2 moving violations in the 3yrs w/no at fault accidents OR maximum of 2 at fault accidents in the last 3 yrs w/no moving violations; All drivers must be licensed for at least 3yrs.

2. Must successfully pass a criminal background check for the purpose of obtaining DPS Class One Fingerprint Clearance Card. A New Leaf will assist you with your fingerprinting at your intake session. If you are currently on probation DPS may deny your Class 1 Clearance and you may be terminated from your employment upon verification of the denial from DPS. If you are concerned as to if you will qualify for this job requirement, please call DPS in advance at (602) 223-2279.

3. Must have a Valid Arizona Driver license.

4. The Office of Behavioral Health and Licensing (OBHL) requires that employee is at least 21 years of age.

Important Notes
PROGRAM INFORMATION: We are a Community-based center in western Maricopa County providing confidential individual, group, marital and family therapy. Staff members also facilitate A New Leaf's Child Welfare Program and prevention & education program (both of which are school & community based programs). Services include in-home family preservation, therapy and community-intervention programs.

We have Masters level therapists, Bachelors level family support specialists, Master and Bachelors level interns and paraprofessional staff supervised by certified professional staff.

We serve children and families with problems of abuse, neglect, and mental health. Issues addressed include post traumatic stress, adjustment issues, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, depression, domestic violence, obsessive compulsive disorder, anxiety disorders issues, relationship issues, sexual abuse and substance abuse issues.

We specialized in Crisis management, cognitive/beh. therapy, mediation and/or conflict resolution, psychological assessments, person centered therapy, rational emotive therapy, substance abuse counseling.
