Jobing Description
Neighborhood Housing Services of Phoenix, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization which provides a full range of programs and services to encourage, create and support homeownership for families in Phoenix and Maricopa County, Arizona.

SUMMARY
Loan Processor supports the Lending Manager in fulfilling his/her loan origination, processing and closing responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Responsible for processing first mortgage loans and/or down payment and closing cost assistance loans from submission to funding.
  • Reviews residential loan application file to verify that application data is complete and meets organization’s lending standards. Verifies borrower assets, liabilities, credit and employment. Confirms that the proposed mortgage financing type and amount meets any housing ratio restrictions.
  • Works with pre-purchase housing counselors and in-house Lending Manager to ensure that all documentation is obtained and submitted to all appropriate parties involved in the mortgage lending process.
  • Submits mortgage loan application file for underwriting approvals.

  • Skills / Requirements
  • High School graduate or GED
  • At least three years (five years preferred) of experience in processing residential mortgage loans and recent experience (one year preferred) in processing FHA residential mortgage loans; and must understand the mortgage loan process and be knowledgeable in basic mortgage loan compliance.
  • Solid math skills in adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing and working with fractions and ratios.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and DBase management. Must be able to run DU and DO. Proficient in using electronic loan origination systems (Encompass experience preferred).
  • Must maintain or meet any government mandated certification or licensing requirements for mortgage processing professionals.
  • Employee must present proof of automobile insurance coverage. Minimum liability limits shall be $100,000 bodily injury and $25,000 property damage coverage or such limits as deemed appropriate by the Chief Executive Officer.
