Team Lead - RN - Radiation Oncology

The Team Leader- Outpatient Registered Nurse acts as a formal and informal leader within the work unit. The Team Leader participates and collaborates with the management staff to assist with the daily operation of the unit and/or department. This nurse is accountable for the delivery of direct patient care including patient education, the management of telephone triage and supervision of nursing care provided by assistive personnel. The Outpatient RN provides high risk nursing care or performs high risk procedures (e.g. conscious sedation, lumbar puncture, bone marrow biopsy or chemotherapy). When nursing care is provided, the nursing process of assessing, diagnosing, outcome identification, planning, implementing and evaluating is the basis for care delivered. The Team Leader provides professional nursing care across practice settings and the continuum of care to meet the needs of the patient and family. This nurse supports the community through community involvement and the organization through education, committee work and participation in research. The ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice (2004), the AAACN Ambulatory Care Nursing Administration and Practice Standards (2004) and the ANA Code of Ethics for Nursing (2001) provide a basis for practice.

Department: Radiation Oncology

Qualifications: Current Arizona registered nurse licensure required; BSN preferred.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate of completion preferred on hire or required within 30 days and maintains.
Minimum of two years previous registered nurse experience in ambulatory and/or acute care settings required.
Able to adapt to unpredictable situations within the clinical and/or research settings.
Strong computer skills preferred.
Exhibits good communication and interpersonal skills.
Works flexible hours that may include on-call.
Maintains ACLS and PALS as required by specific units.
Maintains specialty certification per unit guidelines. Radiation Oncology experience preferred.
