Job: PRINCIPAL ELECTRICAL ENGINEER

Sion Power, the global leader in the development of a new generation of high-energy, rechargeable lithium batteries for portable power is currently searching for a Principle Electrical Engineer for its research and development facility. Sions exciting new technology is based on the elements lithium and sulfur, which combined yield a battery system with the highest theoretical gravimetric and volumetric energy densities of any battery couple and offer significant improvements in performance over current rechargeable batteries.

SUMMARY
Applies analog/digital and power electronics theory and practice related knowledge to design, prepare, test and validate developmental or operational battery electronics by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Create specifications and design documentation for battery systems as determined through customer feedback and interaction.
Design battery electronics systems based on given charging and discharging specifications and system requirements in accordance with customer requirements.
Perform modeling such as spice-based circuit simulation. Create schematic and PWB layouts. Define and create embedded software for boards when required.
Breadboard and test developmental circuits; create prototype boards.
Troubleshoot and modify circuit boards to correct functional deviations.
Interact with Engineering and Production departments for product development, testing and validation.
Identify and interact with internal and external suppliers for component supply and assembly needs.
Give presentations to customers and co-workers as required; mentor junior staff when appropriate.
Some travel required.
Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering required, Masters of Science preferred. A minimum of 8 years of experience in analog/digital design, power electronics, circuit simulation and circuit CAD layout also required. Experience in software design and implementation for embedded systems is highly desirable. Must be able to lead and mentor junior engineers, suppliers and consultants when required. Flexibility in meeting project datelines along with familiarity with applicable military, commercial and automotive standards expected.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Capable of reading, writing, communicating and and comprehending English. Project leadership and teamwork qualities and maintain a teamwork environment through effective verbal and written communications. Must be able to present information to groups of all sizes.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Minimum required for degree in Electrical Engineering.

REASONING ABILITY
Advanced reasoning ability in line with education and experience expected.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT
The Candidate will be immersed in a fast paced, ever changing environment. This person must be able to adapt quickly, meet deadlines and goals, and interface with all levels of employees both internal and external to the company. While performing the duties of this job, the person will occasionally work near hazardous and/or toxic chemicals, energized electronic equipment and circuit boards and operate office machines in both laboratory and office environments. Must be able to manipulate at least 25 lbs. to work bench height and work with small electronic assemblies.
