Center for Global Education Services Scope of Search Open to Public Grant Funded Position This is not a grant funded position and is not contingent on future grant funding. Posted Rate of Pay $35,000-$42,000 per year; DOE Duties and Responsibilities Coordinates the H-1b (Temporary Non-immigrant Worker) immigration program for the university. Provides immigration-related services for international faculty and scholars at ASU, focusing primarily on the H-1b employment-based visa category; provides back-up for immigration services provided to other international faculty, scholars and students, including F-1, J-1 and Permanent Residency cases. Works with highly confidential and sensitive information and assists with complex regulatory issues related to foreign faculty, scholars and students. Advise and assist department chairs and directors, faculty, academic professionals, and staff on the request for, and preparation of, applications for the H-1B immigration status; review and ensure compliance with all applicable immigration laws and regulations. Prepares, completes and submits to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and/or the U.S. Department of Labor, all immigration petitions and applications for the University for H-1B visas for international faculty and scholars. Serve as liaison with various federal, state and local offices, including the USCIS and DHS on all immigration related matters, as well as the Arizona Department of Economic Security, the U.S. Department of Labor, the U.S. Social Security Administration and the U.S. Department of State concerning regulations, procedures and interpretations of law. Liaise with a variety of university offices, including academic departments, Human Resources, Financial Services, University Libraries, and the University Technology Office. Review federal publications, and review and evaluate all immigration functions performed on campus for compliance with Federal laws and regulations and with the Board of Regents and university policy. Conduct instructional seminars for university faculty, academic professionals and staff on immigration and visa issues. Assist with the preparation and dissemination of information through the CGES/ISSO website, handouts and other printed materials for faculty, staff and students. The Center for Global Education Services, works with academic units from across the university to facilitate a variety of services to the ASU community. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND four years' administrative/coordinate program experience; OR, Master's degree in field appropriate to area of assignment AND two years' administrative/coordinate program experience; OR, Eight years of progressively responsible administrative/coordinate program experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved. Desired Qualifications Experience working: directly with faculty, staff, and/or students in a higher education environment; in a university international office; with U.S. non-immigrant and immigrant regulations, particularly H-1B, J-1 and employment-based Lawful Permanent residence (LPR); cooperatively and collaboratively with diverse groups and individuals; organizational skills. Demonstrated knowledge of computer applications (e.g. word processing and databases). Effective verbal and written communication skills.
