Job: RN, In Patient Unit

The Inpatient Unit RN plans, organizes and directs hospice care and is experienced in nursing, with emphasis on comfort care at end of life. The professional nurse works with the interdisciplinary hospice team to plan and direct services to meet the needs of individual and families within the inpatient unit setting. The RN will complete an initial assessment of patient and family to determine hospice needs, provide a complete physical assessment and history of current and previous illnesses, write and initiate Plan of Care, and re-evaluate needs of patient/family/caregiver regularly and revise the Plan of Care as necessary. The RN will administer medications and treatments as prescribed by the physician in the patient's Plan of Care, counsel the patient and family in meeting nursing and related needs, provide health care instructions to the patient as appropriate per assessment and Plan, and assist the patient with the activities of daily living, facilitating the patient's efforts toward self-sufficiency and comfort care.

Requires excellent assessment and problem solving skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, the ability to efficiently and effectively organize and prioritize. Ability to stand for long periods of time, bend, stoop and/or kneel, ability to lift, position and/or transfer patients, lift supplies and equipment.

Qualified candidates must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing, hold a current Arizona nursing license, current CPR certification, have 1-2 years previous experience in acute care setting, 1 year experience in hospice/home care setting.
