GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY:
The Computer Lab Instructor develops curriculums, and effectively provides and delivers instruction to the students of the computer lab in both English and Spanish. Position works with adults and children in small groups. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: • Develops educational curriculum for adults and children regarding computers and Internet usage. • Recruits, trains, and supervises volunteers for the computer labs, following agency protocol. • Records and monitors lab participation levels and lab attendance daily. • Reports data results to management on a regular basis. • Provides instruction and assistance to adults and children in the computer lab. • Maintains thorough records on academic achievement and attendance of lab students. • Develops and administers pre and post-tests for curriculum. • Prepares monthly reports on instructional effectiveness. • Markets the program within the community. • Arranges the physical environment making it safe, healthy, interesting, and developmentally appropriate. • Performs additional duties as assigned which are consistent with the general responsibilities of the position. Skills / Requirements
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:
Able to demonstrate competency with computers and lab equipment. Ability to speak, read and write in English and Spanish fluently. Able to demonstrate ability to teach adults and children of all ages. Able to work in a diverse, multi-cultural environment. Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills in both English and Spanish. Able to work with people and maintain a pleasant disposition. Must have strong organizational skills with attention to detail with good presentation skills. Must have ability to exhibit mature judgment and emotional stability. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must be 21 years of age (licensing requirement). Associates’ degree in computer technology or related field of study. Minimum 2 year experience working in a school/education environment. Minimum 1 year experience working in a computer lab setting. Possess a valid Arizona driver’s license and be insurable under the agency’s automobile policy. Must have strong technological skills working with computers, PC operating systems, the Internet, and Windows based applications. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to provide DPS fingerprint clearance. Must be able to meet training and agency compliance requirements for the position. Mental Requirements • Ability to effectively communicate in the English and Spanish languages. • Ability to gather and interpret moderately complex information. • Able to follow directions and instructions (both oral and written). • Ability to interact well with various levels of staff and with guests of AzCA. Physical Requirements • Indoor classroom working conditions with frequent standing, sitting, and computer usage. • Must be to move throughout facility, and set up and arrange classroom. • Moderate physical effort (lift/carry up to 25 lbs.). • Moderate reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling or crouching.
