Job: Thrift Store Cashier

SUMMARY: Provides courteous and respectful customer service through cashiering functions to include processing credit cards and handling cash and vouchers. Takes initiative working on the retail floor stocking merchandise, answering customers’ questions, writing up sales and signing donation receipts. Is responsible for maintaining an organized and efficient work area and a neat and orderly sales floor. Their presence serves as a deterrent to shoplifting.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

* Knowledge and enforcement of cashier policies and procedures.
* Demonstrates knowledge of merchandise rotation schedule and follows through.
* Responsible for ringing up customer purchases.
* Consistently monitoring the Sales Floor.
* Does “front line” public relations for the agency and the store.
* Double checks prices on merchandise to makes certain prices haven’t been altered by customers.
* Alerts a manager of inappropriate (or potential inappropriate) customer behavior and unsafe floor conditions.
* Stocks retail floor with clothing and priced items and returns abandoned merchandise to appropriate spot on retail floor.
* Keeps cash register area and retail floor neat and tidy at all times.
* Cleans out dressing rooms.
* Writes receipts for walk-in donations.
* Writes up furniture/appliance sales and verifies furniture pick-up receipts.
* Alerts Manager when supplies are needed.
* Carries out paid merchandise as requested by customers whenever possible.
* Consistently thorough and accurate in all paperwork.
* Follows through on assigned tasks.
* Other duties as requested.

QUALIFICATIONS: High school graduate; basic math skills; excellent human relations skills; excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to walk and stand for entire shift; and the ability to perform repetitive motion tasks to include using a barbing gun.
