The Project Manager will have responsibility in the administration, reporting,
planning, development or implementation of activities that strengthen Tohono Oodham Community College as a tribally controlled college; will support the improvement of the academic quality, institutional management, and fiscal stability of the college, in order to increase TOCC self-sufficiency and strengthen capacity to make a substantial contribution to the higher education resources of the Nation. Support the colleges vision, mission and objectives. This list of duties and responsibilities is illustrative only of the tasks performed by this position and is not all-inclusive. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Perform general administrative tasks and duties; Prepare monthly & quarterly progress reports, annual performance reports, & submit financial reports by required deadline; * Understand the background, goals, & objectives of grant on a daily basis; Monitor progress of grant & meet goals & objectives of program; Work as a team member to meet the grants goals/objectives; * Prepare all project files and document for auditing; Oversee all budget maintenance and operations; * Track progress by maintaining files, records, and reports; Develop and maintain databases for marketing and tracking of students; * Provide administrative support and coordinates services for the Student Success Center and students; * Establishes and maintains tutoring work schedule with students; * Purchase books and other materials for the library and study skills center to increase holdings; * Establish a basic skills study center; acquire computers, basic sills software, resource materials, and workbooks for the center, open center for student support services; * Meet with faculty to help facilitate individual materials to avail student of support services and facilitate individual student success; * Intervene in situations with faculty on behalf of students for academic progress & success; track individual student needs for greater academic progress and success; Coordinate study groups and faculty mentoring; * Travel the Tohono Oodham Nation and region to make presentations to students, faculty, educators, and community members; * Attends and participates in assigned meetings, committees, training seminars/workshops, staff development and other college activities. * Perform other job related duties as assigned. COMPENTENCY (To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies): * Establish and maintain good working relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds. * Ability to integrate the values of diversity and team building into education decision-making. * Ability to manage departmental administrative and budgeting activities. * Knowledge of college programs and procedures regarding admission, advisement, registration, financial aid, graduation and career services. * Possess good oral and written communication skills. * Have excellent public relations, organizational and decision-making skills. * Knowledge of computer software such as Microsoft Office, Excel, Access, and other software. QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The education and experience requirements listed below are representative of this positions requirements. * Incumbent must possess a valid Arizona Driver’s license with no DUIs or major traffic offenses within the past three years. * Submit to and successfully complete a background check. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: * Bachelors degree in education, business, research or public administration with knowledge of Indian education and three years work experience in coordinating or assisting with the coordination of a federally funded program. * One year experience in working with Native American communities. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: * Masters degree in education, business, research, or public administration; and two years experience in coordinating a federally funded program. * Work experience with Indian education programs and higher education environment. * Ability to speak and understand Oodham and/or Spanish. * Knowledge and understanding in the history and contemporary issues facing Native peoples. Ability to work in a multi-cultural educational setting. TOCC is located in Sells, Arizona, which is 60 miles west of Tucson on the Tohono Oodham Nation.
