Jobing Description
The incumbent will oversee the college’s accounting processes and bookstore operations. The duties of this job require a high degree of specialized expertise and skill in maintaining established standards of quality and accuracy, technical problem solving, and ingenuity while working within approved organizational systems and technology. The work requires making decisions that support company guidelines authoritatively and quickly. Support the College’s vision, mission and objectives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be assigned): * Analyzes and organizes office operations and procedures such as bookkeeping, payroll preparation, personnel systems, information management, filing systems, requisition of supplies, and other administrative functions. * Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare accounting entries and the documentation of business transaction systems. * Installs, modifies, documents, and coordinates implementation of accounting systems and accounting control procedures; Devises and implements systems for general accounting. * Works with the Vice President of Administrative Services in developing and controlling the college budget; Plans and develops office budget, and initiates cost reduction programs. * Maximizes business office productivity through proficient use of appropriate software applications; Researches and develops resources that create timely and efficient workflow. * Formulates procedures for systematic retention, protection, retrieval, transfer, and disposal of business and accounting records. * Reviews clerical and personnel records to ensure completeness, accuracy, and timeliness; prepares a variety of reports for guidance of management. * Maintains contact with students, faculty, staff and outside vendors. * Perform other job related duties as assigned. * Proficient in the use of PC computers using Windows environment with Microsoft Excel and Word. Knowledgeable in the use of accounting software/programs. * Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business. correspondence, and procedures manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. The focus of communication and organizational relationships is based on technical expertise. * Authoritative, quick decision making within defined span of control and based on accepted quality standards, policies and procedures. * Skilled in maintaining established standards of quality and accuracy; Drive, determination and a self-disciplined approach to achieve results that meet these established criteria; Technical and analytical focused; Expertise-based problem solving. * Ability to assure policies and procedures are followed and time frames are met, and shared responsibility for work output; Leadership based on specialty expertise. QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The education and experience requirements listed below are representative of this position’s requirements. * Successfully complete and pass a background check. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: * Must have a minimum of a bachelors degree from a four-year college or university, with a major in accounting and * Up to three years practical experience in accounting and finance and PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: * Certified Public Accountant. * Fund and grant accounting experience. * Ability to speak and understand Oodham and/or Spanish. * Knowledge and understanding in the history and contemporary issues facing Native peoples. * One year work experience with Native American communities. WORK ENVIRONMENT: TOCC is an educational institution located on the Tohono O’odham Nation, 60 miles west of Tucson. The incumbent will work closely with members of the Tohono O’odham Nation within a multi-culture setting.
