ATK Integrated Weapon Systems (IWS) is a leading producer of medium-caliber chain gun systems for ground, sea, air platforms, a complete family of medium-caliber training and tactical ammunition that meets todays requirements and serves as the cornerstone for tomorrows Future Combat Systems. Role Description:
We seek a capable and proven communications professional to achieve best-in-class results through effective, aligned, consistent and integrated communications programs for a growing multi-million dollar division of ATK.

The Communications Specialist performs "hands-on" management and execution of strategies and tactics encompassing internal communications, public relations, media relations, marketing communications, community relations and crisis communications. Based in Mesa, AZ, the Communications Specialist reports to the ATK IWS team with a strong dotted line report to the Armament Systems Director of Communications, who leads the ATK AS Communications team in developing and executing coordinated communication plans, strategies and tactics to achieve AS vision, mission and goals.

Skills / Requirements
This position requires a well-rounded communications generalist with proven results in successfully applying effective communications solutions to support business requirements. The Communications Specialist is expected to plan, manage and execute in fast-paced and complex environments involving multiple locations, deadlines, conflicting priorities and simultaneous projects. Being able to exert tactful presence and influence when dealing with stakeholders is an enabler of success. A fundamental understanding of the aerospace and defense industry is desired.

Key Responsibilities:
Research, plan, execute and measure communications activities encompassing public relations, media relations, internal communications, marketing communications, advertising, community relations and crisis communications.
Develop themes, messaging, collateral and events for internal communications programs.
Manages production and content for internal communication vehicles.
Develop and pitch story ideas to media. Coordinate responses to media inquiries.
Support media interviews and visits. Act as spokesperson when designated.
Write, coordinate, edit and publish news releases, talking points, stories, announcements, executive messaging, emails, web content and presentations.
Support planning, message development and brand alignment for trade shows.
Assign, approve and maintain catalogue of supporting visuals (video, photo, graphic).
Conduct research to monitor market and industry trends and issues.
Support crisis communications planning and response.
Foster and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including company and industry business and communications partners, news media editors and reporters, bloggers, community and civic officials, and service organizations.

Required Experience:
Bachelors or equivalent degree in Communications, PR, Journalism or related field.
Minimum four years current and direct related experience executing external and internal communications programs.
Outstanding writing, oral communications and project management skills.
Demonstrated working knowledge of Associated Press style.
Demonstrated expertise writing for web and print.
Practical experience using a variety of communications vehicles and practices.
Advanced skills with Microsoft Office
Inclusive, team player with proven ability to collaborate.
Proven ability to successfully execute.
