Jobing Description
Under general supervision, performs substance abuse/behavioral health counseling services including intake and assessment. Services may include service determination, case management, referral, counseling, and crisis stabilization.

This list of duties and responsibilities is merely illustrative of the tasks performed by this position and is not all-inclusive.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

* Provides psychotherapeutic services for adult clients with a combination of mental health, serious mental illness and substance abuse issues, including methadone maintenance;
* Conducts assessments; diagnosis and treatment recommendations; after hour/weekend crisis interventions; urgent care appointments; and individual, family and group therapy.
* Conducts client screening, and clinical assessments.
* Based on comprehensive assessments makes diagnosis and develops treatment plan recommendations, including to the tribal court and referral agencies.
* Provides on-call after hours, weekend crisis interventions on a rotation basis;
* Provides urgent care coverage for the clinic on a rotation basis;
* Provides case management, individual, family, couple and group therapy;
* Coordinates care with case managers, psychiatric and other types of providers;
* Coordinates services with other service providers, such as domestic violence programs, alcohol and substance abuse programs, the court system, and Social Services;
* Records all clinical contacts and complete all appropriate Arizona State Enrollment forms, treatment/ service plans, comprehensive assessments, updates and closures;
* Enters and maintains clinical information and clinical notes into an electronic charting system in accordance with the Centered Spirit Employee Handbook.
* Collects and reports on client data as required by Program Manager;
* As required or assigned, serve on committees, e.g. TMDR, Multi-Disciplinary Child Protection Team, or the Arizona State Behavioral Health Committees for Prevention, SMI, or Children Services.
* Provides supervision to interns assigned to Centered Spirit Program.
* Perform other related duties as assigned.



ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of:

* Interviewing and psychological assessment techniques;
* Psycho-educational and psychotherapeutic principles, practices and techniques in the treatment of adult behavioral health issues;
* Best practices in the assessment and treatment of behavioral health problems;
* Law and ethics as related to behavioral health practice;
* Management of behavioral health crisis’, including risk assessment, crisis intervention techniques, crisis resources, and hospitalization protocols.
* Yaqui culture, customs, resources and traditions or willingness to learn.



Skills to/in:

* Diagnosis using the DSM-IV TR and the ICD-9.
* Working with dual diagnosis issues, serious mental illness and general mental health concerns;
* Crisis intervention techniques, crisis resources, including risk assessment, and hospitalization protocols
* Client engagement, treatment planning and case management;
* Identifying and using the appropriate clinical interventions based on the client’s presenting problems;
* Organization, time management and multi-tasking.
* The use of varied computer equipment and software.



Ability to:

* Assess for imminent or potential lethal harm and intervene appropriately;
* Manage workload, multiple priorities, and administrative responsibilities with minimal supervision;
* Submit assessments, treatment plans, progress notes and other required clinical documentation accurately and on time and be able to track when updates are due;
* Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, agencies, and the public.
* Maintain confidentiality of information.
* Work effectively with a multidisciplinary team of providers within and outside of the department;
* Communicate clearly verbally and in writing.
* Learn the computer software program used by the clinic.

Skills / Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Must be Arizona State licensed as a Behavioral Health Professional. Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW), or Licensed Independent Substance Abuse Counselor (LISAC)
2. Two (2) years of professional counseling experience in a mental health setting.

AND



* A Master’s degree in any Behavioral Health related field preferred, but not required
* If in recovery, must be clean and sober for at least two (2) years.
* Must provide at least three (3) business-related reference letters.
* Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred, but not required.
* Must pass fingerprint, full background check and drug testing.
