Jobing Description
SMMHC is an Apache Junction based community mental health center providing services in several communities throughout Pinal County, Arizona. We are a comprehensive service provider with over 210 employees offering adult inpatient, residential housing and adult/child outpatient services at multiple locations.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Therapist’s main purpose is to provide therapy to children and families of various cultural and socio-economic backgrounds with a wide range of problems and to provide supervision to the Peer Support staff and other clinical staff as assigned by the Program Director. The Family and Youth Services Therapist shall assess, evaluate, diagnose and select the approach to be used for individual treatment programs and maintain client records, as well as, all data required by the Agency.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Complete required hours of training/continuing education (48 hours in the first year of employment, 24 hours in subsequent years).
• Maintain licensure by the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners at all times (once licensed).
• Practice ethical behavior for the profession at all times.
• Participate in supervision as required (55 hours/year if not BBHE licensed, 12 hours per year if BBHE licensed).
• Assist clients with improving or maintaining their level of functioning.
• Coordinate care with families/significant others, payer sources, primary care providers, Child Protective Services, Juvenile/Adult Probation, schools, foster-care placements, etc.
• Ensure that all documentation supports the diagnosis and the services provided.
• Develop individualized treatment plans and update according to program timeframes.
• Complete discharge summaries on discharged clients according to program timeframes.
• Communicate effectively with peers, supervisors and community agencies.

Skills / Requirements
EDUCATION\EXPERIENCE:
Preferred:
• Masters’ Degree in counseling or social work from an approved school and three (2) years counseling experience focusing on adolescents and youths.

• Master LISAC in the state of Arizona
• Certification of AZ Board of Behavioral Health Examiners
• Ability to work in a team and independently.
• Able to create and retain therapeutic relationships with clients on a short-term or fill in basis
• Preferred: Ddually licensed as a LISAC and LPC, LCSW, or LMFT. Background in developing substance abuse programs with adolescents. Two (2) plus years in a supervisory role.

Required: Master’s Degree in Psychology or related Field. Exp with children and or adolescents.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
• Must have extensive knowledge and background of mental health population.
• Must be knowledgeable of community resources available.
• Must be familiar with current psychotropic medications and side effects.
• Must be experienced and trained in crisis intervention.
• Must have good oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to read/speak fluent English, bilingual optional.
• Must be able to apply an appropriate range of treatment interventions to adults & children.
• Must have knowledge of substance abuse/dependence.

OTHER CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES NOT INCLUDED ABOVE:
• Certification in CPR and First Aid
• Certification in CPI one time
• Possession of a current and valid Driver License and proof of auto insurance.
• Fingerprint Clearance Card.
