Jobing Description
Health Care Clinics are located within the six Maricopa County Jails. Location of position varies. Must be able to work inside a jail. This is a secure environment and helathcare delivery doesn't happen without detention officers present.
Must be willing to work every weekend. Provides technical skilled nursing care and other health related duties in a correctional environment under the general supervision of a Register Nurse; Collects data for assessment of care needs and implements appropriate nursing interventions under the directions of a registered nurse or medical provider. Monitors patient progress as appropriate and reports outcomes appropriately. Administers medication and addresses other pharmacological needs as protocol dictates. Performs standard nursing procedures appropriate to patient needs. Completes and processes all required documentation in a comprehensive objective and legible manner. Provides health-related education as appropriate to patient needs. Identifies and fulfills educational needs to enhance nursing skills. Completes required classes and education credits. Maintains current BLS (CPR) certification. Participates in orientation and training of new employees, contract staff, students and others as needed; Participates in meetings and special projects as requested. Participates in QI related activities as assigned. Organizes and maintains a clean work environment. Performs other related duties as assigned. Skills / Requirements
Graduation from accredited Practical Nurse Program required, and must possess a valid, unrestricted license as a Licensed Practical Nurse, legally able to practice in Arizona.
Demonstrated knowledge and compliance with: proper use of medical/clinic equipment, medication administration, applicable nursing and health care standards, regulations, statutes and departmental policies and procedures, applicable safety policies and OSHA standards. Must have the ability to: establish and maintain effective working relationship with others, comply with staffing and attendance policies, treat all inmates and co-workers with dignity and respect, and preserve and protect patient rights and confidentiality at all times. Must be willing to work various assignments and float to various facilities as needed. Must be abel to walk long distances, climb stairs, respond to an emergency, tolerate the heat. Two years of experience as an LPN working in longtermcare, med/surge, correctional expereince and large volume medication passes.. Prefer certification for venipuncture from an approved training program. Must be bilingual spanish speaking. Important Notes
