Jobing Description
GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY:
The Prevention Educator -SACASA is responsible for providing sexual violence information and education to presentation participants and the community at large.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Teaches and promotes a sexual violence prevention education program for youth, adults and professionals in Southern Arizona.
• Creates and evaluates program curriculum and revises as needed.
• Responds appropriately to disclosures of sexual violence, including making mandated reports and/or referrals.
• Distributes literature (brochures, pamphlets) to requesting agencies/individuals.
• Assists in the assessment of the community need for education.
• Assists in community event coordination and management.
• Develops population specific and culturally appropriate resource and educational materials.
• Assists in maintaining updated program curricula books and computer files.
• Assists in maintaining accurate records of program activities.
• Assists in the writing of funding and grant proposals, and program grant reports.
• Performs additional duties as assigned which are consistent with the general responsibilities of the position.


Skills / Requirements
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:
 Knowledge of sexual assault, interpersonal violence, human sexuality, and developmental issues for children, adolescents, and adults.
 Knowledge of southern Arizona community resources.
 Knowledge of prevention methodology and public health models.
 Knowledge of community development theory and practice.
 Demonstrates ability to plan, organize, and implement educational programs.
 Able to work in a diverse, multi-cultural environment.
 Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.
 Must have ability to maintain confidentiality; and consistently exercise discretion and judgment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
 Must be 21 years of age (licensing requirement).
 Bachelor’s degree in Public Health Education or related field of study from an accredited university or college required.
 Minimum 1 year experience working in community outreach, prevention, public health and/or education.
 Arizona teaching certification preferred.
 Must have experience in curriculum writing and the development of educational tools.
 Possess a valid Arizona driver’s license and be insurable under the agency’s automobile policy.
 Must be computer literate with knowledge of Outlook and Microsoft Office programs (i.e. Word, Excel).
 Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as position requires.


OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
 Must be able to provide DPS fingerprint clearance.
 Must be able to meet training and agency compliance requirements for the position.

Mental Requirements
• Ability to effectively communicate in the English language.
• Ability to gather and interpret moderately complex information.
• Ability to interact well with various levels of staff, clients, and with guests of AzCA.
• Ability to follow directions and instructions (both oral and written).

Physical Requirements
• Indoor/outdoor working conditions with frequent sitting, standing, writing and computer usage.
• Frequent moving about location.
• Moderate physical effort (lift/carry up to 25 lbs.).
• Frequent reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling or crouching.

Important Notes
Position will be working 8 hours a week.
