Job: Mechanical Engineer - Customer and Product Support

The Mechanical Engineer C&PS is part of the Customer and Product Support Engineering Team and reports to the Manager of CP&S Engineering

The Mechanical Engineer CP&S is responsible for the achievement of the qualitative and quantitative objectives of the business strategy, with the following responsibilities:
1. Take Ownership of development and support activities as assigned related to door and control components in the CIWE product lines.
-Manage product support work stream assignments (i.e. shop support, seismic analysis, wind load analysis, custom door designs) to customer requirements.
-Act as design and technical resource for all product development activities related to product line enhancement, extensions, upgrades, and cost reductions, as assigned by the Engineering Manager CP&S.
2. Show the initiative to excel and exceed expectation on:
- Product line development projects as assigned.
-Development and maintenance of the automated engineering tools set
-Service and support projects for internal and external customers.
3. Realize Quantitative Targets:
-Release high quality design solutions on time and on budget as agreed to with supervisor.
-Achieve internal and external customer service ratings as agree to with supervisor.
-Sales as outlined in the Yearly Business Plan and annual targets;
- Financial budget as outlined in the Yearly Business Plan and annual targets.
4. Realize Qualitative Targets:
-Development of products, plans and strategies to achieve targeted product and market share position;
-Evaluation of customer needs and competitive pressures and taking action for the generation of innovative solutions;
-Maintenance, and expansion of, an environment which motivates peers to achieve high quantitative and qualitative targets;
-Fostering of a company culture of learning and personal responsibility with employee accountability for their work with their customers and fellow employees;
-Promotion of close co-operation between functional areas and multiple business locations. Drive the technical input in regular business meetings between sales managers, product managers, and engineering.

„« Five years of proven track record in design and or specification of doors and access systems, structural sheet metal construction products, motors controls, control stations, sensing elements, and gearing and mechanical mechanisms. Preference given to those with experience in the door, access control, or actuation industries.
„« Proficiency in AutoCad and Inventor solid modeling systems. Preference given to those with knowledge of Revit and Building Information Modeling.
„« Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar field with minimum of five years experience in a related manufacturing enterprise. PE license highly desirable. Advanced degrees given preference.
„« Experience providing world class support to manufacturing and working cooperatively with marketing and sales to drive organic growth strategies.
„« Demonstrated ability to apply design for manufacture, lean/ six sigma, and progressive design techniques to improve quality and reduce costs. Preference given to those with Greenbelt/ Blackbelt training or certification.
„« Demonstrated ability to interface with distribution partners and end users to trouble shoot and fix field issues in a manner that is value added to the customer. Ability to manage multiple demands and priorities.
„« Work and promotional history that demonstrates ego, drive, empathy, and leadership qualities consistent with the qualitative goals described above.
„« Fluent in English. Preference given to conversational Spanish or other second language.
