Director - Information Resource Management

The ASU Foundation for A New American University (ASUF) raises, invests and manages private funds to benefit Arizona State University. Additionally, the foundation serves as the university‚s entrepreneurial arm in technology commercialization, real estate investment and other emerging initiatives. One of Arizona‚s oldest 501(c)(3) organizations, the foundation helps advance the challenges before us.

The Director of Information Resources Management (IRM) has primary accountability for the performance and quality of the ASU Foundation for A New American University‚s (ASUF) information systems and information technology assets. The Director will lead and manage ASUF‚s information technology infrastructure including business applications, SaaS applications and services, databases, networks, servers, desktops, mobile devices, A/V equipment, printers and additional assets as required. The Director will have a deep understanding of ASUF‚s key applications which include Advance (SunGard advancement software), IFAS (SunGard financial software), @task (project governance software), and SharePoint (collaboration). The director will also lead the project management processes, project alignment, and facilitate communications with stakeholders.

The Director will develop and implement strategies and plans to ensure the hardware, software, network, vendor services, and all capital investments are cost effective and provide the capacity to meet the needs of the organization. The Director will also lead ASUF relationships with information technology partners to ensure appropriate service levels, issue resolution escalation, and product/service utilization alignment with ASUF‚s business needs and strategic direction.

This position reports to the Vice President of Operations and Services; supervises the IRM team; manages the IRM daily operations; coordinates the IRM activities with units in ASUF/ASU; and plans and manages the IRM financial budget.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

* Articulate ASUF‚s vision for technology and information assets to serve the foundation‚s mission
* Develop and implement a strategic plan for IRM with annual and multi-year budgetary and milestone targets aligned with ASUF goals
* Manage an active governance model for aligning technology investments with the business needs of ASUF
* Promote and foster IT portfolio management and project management guidelines and standards
* Identify and implement new opportunities where information technology can be used to expand and improve foundation services, increase revenues and optimize efficiency of existing systems and processes
* Lead and manage the evaluation, selection, design and implementation of new solutions and systems essential to completing the departments strategic plan
* Oversee the security, utilization, usability, and business continuity planning of information systems and all other IT solutions throughout the foundation
* Oversee and maintain a robust and reliable architecture and network services to meet the information technology needs of foundation users
* Provide direction and management of IRM team including budget planning and management, annual operations planning, and employee management
* Manage and improve a coordinated approach for all users of foundation systems in ongoing training programs and teaching tools
* Work closely with key users to identify business needs requiring information technology support and communicate services available to all users of foundation systems
* Collaborate and work in partnership with ASU, the Alumni Association, and others to optimize resources and service quality for all users of foundation systems

* Previous experience managing multiple large to medium sized (6-24+ months) projects through the Project Management life cycle
* Attention to detail and thoroughness in completing assigned duties
* Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects
* Possess up-to-date knowledge of the field of information management and able to stay abreast of the latest trends and vendor offerings
* Experience with hardware and software applications used to convert, store, protect, process, transmit and securely retrieve data
* Knowledge and ability to plan for the acquisition, development and management of data or information management systems
* Night and weekend work may be required

EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor‚s degree or advanced degree at the Master‚s level in Information Management, Business, Communications or MBA with specialization in information systems management desired. A minimum of at least five years of relevant experience, preferably in a foundation or higher education environment, demonstrating cooperative and innovative use of information systems and solutions or any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
