Profile: Maricopa County Correctional Health Services

The mission of Correctional Health Services is to provide evidence-based, medically necessary health care to patients in the Maricopa County Jails so that they can proceed through the judicial system.

Correctional Health Services works closely with the Sheriff's Department who provide a safe, secure and clean working environment. The jails and clinics are state of the art facilities and are well-equipped. Correctional Health Services operates 7 out patient clinics, a 260-bed in-patient psychiatric unit and a 60-bed in-patient infirmary with in the walls of the Maricopa County Jails.

 Inmates have a constitutional right to receive medical services and those services have expanded over the years since the first ruling in the 1970's. Medical & Mental Health Services as well as Dental, x-ray and pharmacy services are provided. Correctional Health Services staff MD's, DO's, Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, Mental Health Professionals, Dentists, Dental Assistants, RN's, LPN's and Medical Assistants and a variety of support staff.
