Through growth and change, Gila River Health Care (GRHC) is committed to improving the health care of the population we service by focusing on a patient family centered care model that promotes collaboration through the empowerment of relationship building among patients, their families and health care providers.  Gila River Health Care promotes a healing environment that fosters the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual wellness of our patients and families, effectively creating a patient-friendly atmosphere.  The organization is a provider of superior comprehensive community oriented health care for the Gila River Indian Community, Ak-Chin Indian Community and other federally recognized tribes of the U.S.

Located thirty five miles south of Phoenix, Arizona in the community of Sacaton, Arizona, Gila River Health Care is a not-for-profit corporation chartered under the auspices of the Tribal Government.  It is governed by a Board of Directors comprised of community members from the community it serves. The health care organization maintains a close working relation with Indian Health Services (IHS), as well as, state, county, and federal programs.


The Gila River Indian Community assumed management of Hu Hu Kam Memorial Hospital and the Gila Cross Health Center from Indian Health Service under the Gila River Health Care Corporation in 1995. Through the years the organization has continued to expand its services to meet the demands of its population. Today, the organization is comprised of Hu Hu Kam Memorial Hospital is a 10-bed critical access designation located in Sacaton, Arizona. This facility provides a wide range of primary health care services to its population, including a state-of-the-art dialysis unit and comprehensive behavioral health services. The Ak-Chin Clinic is located within in the Ak-chin Indian Community to provide this population with primary health care services.  The Komatke Health Center, located in Komatke, Arizona, opened in January of 2009 to replace the Gila Cross Clinic and to expand services to the area.  It provides a number of comprehensive primary health services, a state-of-the-art dialysis unit and comprehensive behavioral health services.
