Blog Post: Student HRGames Networking
posted Monday, March 31, 2008 3:34 PM
Competing at both the state and regional levels for the HRGames has been a lot of fun and very rewarding. I feel that I have gained a better grasp of what the human resources field entails through studying and competing in the HRGames. I feel that I have learned even more through talking to the professionals and other students involved in the competition.
In addition to learning a lot, I feel as though I was able to make great connections with professionals in human resources field. Building my “network” through participation in the HRGames and other HR related activities is really important to me. I think that other students interested in the field would really benefit from participating in the HRGames and attending the conference the same way as it has benefited me. One of the speakers at the conference said, “It’s not what you know, or who you know. It’s who knows you.” I think that this was a great opportunity for students to get their name out there to HR professionals who may be their future employers! I would recommend any student interested in HR to participate. I want to say thank you to Monika Masciangelo and SHRM for providing the opportunity for this experience!
