Blog Post: My day in Las Vegas
posted Wednesday, June 27, 2007 9:27 AM
So I know that the golden rule is “what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.” But I’m here to spill the beans.
Yesterday I woke up at 5am to go to Las Vegas, NV to attend the 2007 SHRM Conference to make a few connections with some of the fifteen thousand attendees. All I knew is that my flight was at 7:15, and that a limo was to pick me up. I had no idea where I was going to stay, who I was going to meet, and what was going to come out of this adventure. A perfect Vegas trip. Upon arrival, there was a limo driver holding a sign that said “Farmiloe.” Pretty sweet. We rode over the conference where my exhausting and adventurous day began. I made my home base at in Jobing.com’s “territory,” which is my synonym for extremely badass booth. They had a double decker structure that looked over the entire landscape of the conference, about 50 Jobing employees representing their respective cities, and enough popcorn and cookies to go around. I met everyone at Jobing.com, which was awesome because they are really jazzed about our project, and are willing to help out in any way they can. I then walked about a marathon to cover the conference floor in a matter of 4 hours. I met Lance Armstrong’s people. I chatted with Disneyland’s employees. I met Elvis. Bob’s fruit guy. Tons of passionate entrepreneurs, and found great leads to help with the success of the Pursue the Passion tour. In all, I collected enough business cards to fill a shoe box. And I left with a kazoo. Brett is really excited to have met a ton of very passionate people out in Vegas. He also is having trouble containing his excitement because the Pursue the Passion tour is five days away. He also learned that people like to hug at Jobing. To read more about the 14,000 mile, 90 day journey, check out http://www.pursuethepassion.com
